George Grams, owner and CEO of Inveresk Enterprises Ltd, brings to the table a diverse range of skills and over 40 years experience in the construction industry. He graduated in architecture in the UK in 1974 and gained admittance to the register of UK chartered architects in 1977. He is an international associate of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and an associate of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
Since immigrating to Canada in 2003 he has completed projects for a number of private and corporate clients in BC and in Washington State. For fourteen years prior, he was chairman of a small group of ecologically focused design and construction companies serving a broad range of corporate and private clients in the UK and Europe. He has worked as a corporate architect in Europe and the Middle East on a wide range of major projects ranging from offices and shopping centres to military installations and health facilities.
His teaching experience includes lecturing in low environmental impact design and construction to both students and architects in Britain and Spain and in preparing and delivering for the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) a series of continuous professional development seminars for RIAS affiliates.
He is also:
- an arbitrator specializing in contract resolution and commercial disputes;
- a member of the ADR Institute, Toronto and the BCAMI;
- Islands Trust local trustee representing Salt Spring Island;
- vice chair of the Islands Trust;
- chair of the Salt Spring Island Watershed Protection Authority.
He lives with his wife, Geri, on their 11 acre coastal horse farm on Salt Spring Island.
